The Jungle Book characters that came alive on social media
The jungle book is one of the favourite comics on which we have grown. It has been written by Rudyard Kipling and the characters are all animals. The story is set in a forest in India in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The central character of the jungle book is Mowgli, a boy who is raised by wolves.
Social Media is also like a wildlife jungle. The characters living on its various platforms exhibit similar characteristics to the ones in the jungle book. Shere Khan, the King of the jungle is a person who likes to dominate the platform with his viewpoint and gets into an argument with anybody who doesn’t toe his line. On the other hand, Col Haathi and his gang or elephants have a herd mentality and tend to crush anybody’s social image as the Twitterati community does regularly. Check out #neptisminbollywood or #ChinaGetOut .
So let’s have some fun in this jungle by surfing on various social platforms on Mowgli’s mobile.
The Characters of the jungle book now alive on social media
The Challengers of the jungle book on social media
Shere Khan the Tiger
You will come across some loud characters on social platforms who put their viewpoint with a lot of conviction. There are times when you feel that they are hungry for your blood as any message posted by you on social media is rebutted by them. If you get into an argument with them then you will be attacked ferociously. They are present mainly on FB, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp. You criticise any action of the government and they will become thirsty for your blood. If our country moves from a democracy to an autocracy then a lot of credit will go to the Shere Khan community.
The friendly community of the jungle book
Baloo the Bear
These are the most lovable creatures on the social media platform. They are highly visible on Facebook and WhatsApp. Just like Baloo is obsessed with honey our guys our obsessed with food. The world may have got impacted by the pandemic but these characters are least bothered about the virus. Instead, you will find them posting pictures of the exotic food dishes and making them go viral. Saturdays are when they are the most active on social media sharing live pictures of cooking mutton or chicken in the kitchen along with a glass of wine.
Bagheera the Black Panther
He is the smartest character on social media just like he was in the jungle book. Bagheera is an intelligent character, has got a huge fan following on social media and mostly found on LinkedIn. Being intelligent, at times they behave like Wikipedia of the world. You will find their pictures as a speaker on one of the webinars. A lot of them can be categorised as “Been there, done that”. People look forward to their posts which tends to get a lot of likes and shares.
Akela, the leader of the Wolf Pack
It was the wolf pack that took care of Mowgli in the jungle with Raksha being the adoptive mother. The wolf pack was the one who saved Mowgli in the jungle book from Shere Khan. Similarly, you have social media caretakers who tend to be your well-wisher. They will share with you good health wishes on FB, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
Early in the morning, you will receive a good morning or a good health message on WhatsApp groups or FB. Yoga is good for health; drinking 10 glasses of water every day will make your skin glow; be gentle to everything that God has created and so on. There are times when they are so overwhelmed with your poor financial status that they will send a chain message to bring you a fortune. You just need to send it to 10 people in your WhatsApp group and voila you will become rich overnight. One of the wolf from this pack keeps sending a good morning message every day tirelessly. He is least bothered if anybody reads it. Sometimes you wonder where he gets this treasure box of such messages.
Bandar log or the Langurs
You can call them the “Selfie” species of social media. They will keep forwarding pictures taken at a party or in a new dress or at any other important function. This community doesn’t believe in uploading a single or a couple of pictures but the entire album. Imagine the plight of the FB servers running in North Carolina. They have to work hard to store all these images which incidentally adds to global warming as the servers heat up storing all that useless data.
You also need to be very careful as the Bandar log are extra sensitive. If you don’t press the like button, they take it to their heart. Another lot of this community is very active on WhatsApp. They will keep forwarding messages ranging from what is good for humanity to how God punishes people who harm nature or animals. The best part is that they don’t read such messages themselves and like a post office will forward to all the groups.
Kaa the Python snake
I would like to classify them as the Karma messengers. They will hypnotise you just like Kaa hypnotised Mowgli in the jungle book. You will get unlimited messages on WhatsApp and FB straight from the house of Lord. The Karma messages will tell you that if you harm anybody you will be punished by God. On the other hand you will get a lot of Good Morning messages on WhatsApp group that are according to the day of the deity. Tuesday is meant for a message from Lord Hanuman and Thursdays are reserved for Sai Baba. There are times when you wonder when will Karma punish them for sending such messages day-in and day-out.
The not so friendly characters
Col Haathi the elephant gang
This gang is generally active on twitter and will destroy anything which comes their way. These days they are busy destroying Bollywood on nepotism or Xi Jinping on border attacks. Also known as the Twitterati gang they have a special skill set to crush. You can meet them on #neptisminbollywood or #ChinaIndiaborder. The elephant gang is Nature’s way of keeping a check on the ruling government or any injustice in the society at large.
Tambakuvi or the Hyena
The hyena in the jungle book was known for licking Shere Khan’s ass. Similarly, if you have taken the liberty of criticizing the ruling party for any of its actions on a social media platform, the hyenas will come after your life. So don’t displease the real-life Shere Khan. The right nomenclature for the hyenas is the “Bhakt” community.
