An Incredible India to an Intolerant India: A country on short fuse

If you follow news on social media or a newspaper you will realise that off-late we as a country are on a short fuse. Reading about nepotism in Bollywood on different platforms has got me on a short fuse and hence this story. What has happened to us? We are a country of Lord Krishna and Gautama Buddha. One taught us to follow the right path of dharma while the other asked us to conquer the mind.

India is a land of Gautama Buddha
The mind is everything. What you think you become

It seems we have forgotten the teachings of the deities to whom we pray daily. This is not the path our Gurus have shown us. Is it the lockdown that is making us go on a short fuse? Take any issue confronting us and we as a society are split into two extremes. Sometimes I wonder what happened to the moderates.

People are on a short fuse these days
My way or highway!

There is a debate happening on nepotism in Bollywood ever since we lost our dear actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In Rajasthan, we have a chief minister fighting with his deputy and calling him names. Is too much power surge leading to a short fuse situation? Our PM visits the injured soldiers on the front and the next day we have a debate on how the make-shift hospital has been dressed up for the PM’s photo-op

The short fuse leading to a nuclear chain reaction

The Queen of Jhansi waging a nepotism battle

I have an opinion and my opinion is the correct one. This in nutshell is driving people crazy. Nobody has the patience to listen to the other person’s view. Kangana Ranaut has raised the issue of nepotism in Bollywood targeting Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, and many others. The debate is how the established producers promote only star kids thereby killing chances of the talented artists. The point is well taken.

But can we just close the debate here? Such debates are like a nuclear chain reaction. Once a single reaction sets in it leads to further reactions. It’s like an atom undergoing nuclear fission and releasing few neutrons which react with the fissile material present in the surrounding. As a result, there is a big explosive energy release. This is the science behind a nuclear weapon.

The nepotism debate which has sucked a lot of people in the tsunami
Bang on the target!

Similarly, the passing away of Sushant Singh Rajput set a chain reaction releasing a neutron called Kangana. This neutron has set in motion a chain reaction among surrounding fissile material like Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhaskar leading to an explosion. And now Anurag Kashyap has been added to the list. Every day there is a new nuclear explosion on social media and the victim list just keeps increasing.

The Ladakh issue and the critics attacking from Finger 4 of Galwan valley

PM visited the Army hospital in Ladakh
PM Modi cheering up the jawans

The PM recently visited Ladakh to cheer up the army who had recently lost 20 precious life in a clash with the Chinese. He visited a makeshift army hospital to boost the morale of the jawans. The picture was shared by the official news agency. But the picture was scrutinized under an electron microscope.

The critics who can also be called the “Fault finding machines” immediately came out with their findings. The entire exercise was declared as another photo-op stunt of the PM. Their microscopic findings revealed that there was no IV fluid stands next to the beds. Also, the bed sheets didn’t seem crumpled.

You compare any medical centre of Defence services and you will find the highest standard of cleanliness so how was this hospital any different?

The flood in Rajasthan which drowned the government

The bare knuckle political fight in Rajasthan
Let me show who is the Boss?

Imagine the entire ruling government drowning in the monsoon of internal politics. The polarization has led to chief minister with his 90 plus MLA’s on one end and his deputy with 18 loyal soldiers on the other. Now like any other political crisis this will also settle soon.

The problem happens when the politicians who are on short fuse start calling each other names. This doesn’t go down well with the general public as these are the same people whom they voted to power. The CM was even reprimanded by the high command for using improper language. In this vortex of a political tsunami, even the opposition leaders have got sucked in.

My question is why politics has to be dirty and why a CM who is so experienced and respected has to fall to such level. A long career in politics would have taught him how to avoid short-fuse situations.

The Don who landed in a hospital

A scene from the movie Dewar
Peter tumhare gunday mujhse milne Nanavati hospital nahi aaye

Imagine the plight of a family where 4 out of 5 members have tested positive for COVID 19. The last thing they need is another infection of a controversy. The family got admitted to the Nanavati hospital. But one great soul discovered that Amitabh and Abhishek have a stake in the company that manages Nanavati hospital.

A controversy triggered that Amitabh and family purposely got admitted to Nanavati to promote the hospital. Isn’t it natural that somebody who is a part-owner of a hospital-like Nanavati will get admitted to it to get the best care? So where is the need for controversy? But people on short fuse need to create a short circuit.

Politicians on a short fuse

The political leaders who are accountable to the electorate are also role models for society. But in our country, politicians have stoop down to such levels that nobody in a family wants their younger generation to follow them.

Politicians are always on a short fuse
The mud slinging continues in politics

On one hand, we have Rahul Gandhi making a daily attack on the ruling party, especially the PM. On the other, we have ministers from the ruling party rebutting each of the statements. Whether it is the Chinese intrusion on the Ladakh border or relationship with the neighbouring country, Rahul Gandhi has been questioning the PM on every decision. In a way, it’s a good check and balance system.

The ruling party can handle such questions with maturity. However, every question puts them on a short fuse. The ruling party ministers will never give relevant answers to the questions raised. Instead they start a game of mudslinging by digging into Rahul Gandhi’s past.

The ruling party should realise that the people who have voted them to power are not dumb. Even they also want to know the answers to such questions provided the party in power have answers to them.
