The Vegan world witnesses turmoil as Gobhi argues with Bhindi
Vegan food is healthy. This is a new realization that is making human beings boycott meat products. “I love vegan” is a phrase reverberating across the world. The vegetables are thrilled. In a world obsessed by animal eating, vegetables are finally getting their due recognition. There is celebration in the vegan world. Bhindi, Lauki, Karela and others are thrilled to hear this news.
Vegan food is healthy and also valuable to the planet. Vegetables not only breathe oxygen in the air but are also a big source of nutrition. Growing vegetables provides livelihood to many people across the world. On the other hand, animals add to methane levels of the planet leading to global warming. The cattle stock like cows, buffalos, sheep to a great extent are responsible for methane emissions.
Global warming and climate change are attributed to greenhouse gas emissions. Both Carbon-dioxide and methane are responsible for the rise in planet’s tempertaure. While carbon-dioxide is resposnible for 3/4th of the emission, methane adds the balance 1/4th.
In other words, the lovers of vegan food are the true torch bearers of a climate friendly world.
The summer vegetables are exhilarated
The vegetable market wintnesses a huge jump in demand for Lady finger, Bottle gourd, Bitter gourd, Brinjal and green leafy vegetables like Mint. The vegetables fail to understand the economics behind the surge in demand. They have existed for so long but have never witnessed a frenzy of this kind.
The vegan world calls for an emergency meeting. All the member vegetables are asked to attend the monsoon session. The vegetable world comprises of a Lower house and an Upper house. The lower house is represented by the elected representatives of the season like Bhindi, Lauki, Tori, Parbal, Kundru, Karela, Beans etc. On the other hand, the upper house is represented by nominated members who have a fixed term. These vegetables are available round the year, irrespective of any season like Aloo, Pyaaz, Adrak, Lehsun, Tomato.
The farm law will promote vegan world food culture
The speaker of the lower house is Bhindi while Aloo is for the upper house. The monsoon session turns out to be a volatile one. The members of the ruling party or the summer season vegetables pass a law called the farm law. As per the new farm law, the farmers are free to sell the vegetables at a market price. No more the prices will be subject to prices set by the mandis.
The opposition parties i.e. the off-season vegetables like Gobhi, Matar, Gajar, Shalgam, Palak, Methi create a furore in the house. Despite realizing that the farm laws will benefit them, the winter vegetables kept protesting just for the heck of it. The speaker of the house Bhindi tries to calm down the opposition members but to no avail. His contention that the farm law will help promote the vegan food culture in India doesnt cut much ice with opposition members. Few of the vegetables went on the floor of the house creating a ruckus. The house proceedings got stalled and bhindi had to call the Marshalls to control the rowdy members.
The rising fuel prices leads to inflation in the vegan world
The vegetables from the opposition parties were also protesting about the rising fuel prices. Their contention was why the ruling party was not reducing the taxes on fuel? The ever-increasing fuel price had led to an increase in transport prices. The winter vegetables that were coming from far off hilly areas became expensive due to high transport cost. The high prices was a setback for winter vegetable sales in the vegan world.
The ruling party members were led by Karela who incidentally happened to be the CEO of the country. Karela believed in the policy of “My way or the highway”. He was always bitter when it came to treating the members of the opposition parties. Lauki another summer vegetable was good in assisting Karela. It had a bald outlook but a tall presence within the party.
The boycott of the lower house by Gobhi, Matar, and other winter vegetables presented a golden opportunity to the summer vegetables. Karela, Lauki, Tori, and others got busy passing laws without having any debates in the house.
The meat producers are a worried lot
The meat producers were a worried lot as the vegan food culture was gaining momentum. The harsh reality about livestock like cows, buffalos, sheep adding to the methane levels by burping and farting was turning many non-vegetarians into vegetarians. Vegan food was gaining popularity and a time would come when meat producers will be out of business.
On the other hand, the covid wave came as a big shocker for the meat producers. Doctors were advising covid patients to have lighter meals. The die-hard meat lovers were sacrificing meat in favour of vegan food.
The winter vegetables blame the ruling party for snooping
One grudge that all the winter vegetables had against the summer vegetables was that they were snooping on them. The lockdown had resulted in people ordering the vegetables online at a convenience of a click. On the one hand, there were established players like Gofers, Big Basket, Reliance retail offering fresh vegetables from the vegan world on its platforms. On the other hand, new players like Zomato, Swiggy were also venturing into this new territory of delivering groceries and vegetables at the doorstep.
The summer vegetables felt that winter vegetables were becoming more popular on the online platforms. They were not willing to lose their popularity so easily amongst their electorate. The summer vegetables had a secret meeting headed by none other than Karela and Lauki. It was decided to import a malware called “Pegaware” from Israel that can easily infect the end consumer’s computer. This way the ruling party vegetables can snoop over the winter vegetables and know about the territories they were popular.
This became a bone of contention between the summer and the winter vegetables. The Winter vegetables stalled the proceedings of both the Lower and the Upper house. The summer vegetables started blaming the opposition that they were not allowing the house to function. And so, the war continued.
