A party with crazy friends forever that never has a dull moment

One of the best stress-busters in life is partying and if the company is that of your crazy friends, then you want the party to carry on forever. In school, it’s friends with whom you share your class notes or even the first crush in your life. The same friends make your college life colourful by bunking classes to attend a music fest or drinking unlimited tea in the college canteen.

And then comes the workplace where you are unable to differentiate between friends and foes initially. Gradually with time, one makes friends, and office life becomes much more fun.  The day one feels low because of humiliation in an office meeting it’s friends who come to the rescue. They take you out to a nearby pub to lift your spirit by gulping down a glass of spirit. A couple of drinks down and you want the session with the crazy friends to continue forever. On Friday evenings the same friends organize a car-o-bar session to let out the office frustration. The topics discussed vary from office politics to employee’s unfriendly practices to the unpredictable nature of the boss and so on.

So, what happens when you meet the same crazy friends at a party thrown by one of them at his place. The start is very sober and the initial phase is of enquiring about the well-being of others. But the moment the magic potion of the 12-year-old Scotch starts working the party takes a different colour. The smile turns into laughter and every sip leads to more gossip. The decibel levels become high and somewhere the crazy friends get drowned in the company of each other far away from the daily stress of life.

The Black Label club of friends who are crazy forever

This club is sophisticated and as the name suggests the friends have arrived in life. A gathering at one of the friend’s places is meant to be a session of fun and gossip topped up with kebabs and scotch. The best of the Scotch from Single malt to blended ones are displayed. There is Talisker, Singleton, Glenfiddich, and then Johnny Walker and Chivas.

The first drink is made by the host and for the refills, one has to help himself. The connoisseurs of scotch are also great foodies. Every bite into the succulent mutton tikka and the shami kebabs is followed by a round of appreciation. The veggies are busy dipping the paneer tikka in the freshly prepared mint chutney.

The ladies form a separate group

The ladies are enjoying their gossip sessions over a glass of wine and fresh lime juice. Initially, the ladies and the gents make themselves comfortable sitting together in the living room. As the party warms up the gents step out on the balcony to discuss office politics. The ladies find the topic boring and so move away from forming an exclusive club. The topic of discussion is family, kid’s education, and the latest shopping collection.

Dinner is served late and it’s already half past midnight. The crazy friends want the party to carry on forever but the wives ultimately push them into their cars saying goodbye to the rest of the group.

Friends who blend together stick together

This is a group of friends who blend very well and are always willing to meet under the slightest pretext.  School and college friends generally fall in this group. Designation and levels don’t matter at all. What matters is the bond of friendship. This group is always eager to meet and more than the men it’s the spouses who are keen to meet.

The party starts with no formalities and the moment a friend enters with his spouse, the friend at the bar hands him a glass saying he is a couple of drinks behind. He is supposed to gulp down the first two to match the frequency with the rest of the gang. The adjusting nature of the friends can be judged from the fact that they are least bothered about what brand of whisky is being served. What is discussed is mainly kids and their education.

The party becomes colourful

The party warms up and after an hour the drinks start to show the colour. One of the friend’s wife puts the music on and soon the entire group is swinging to the latest Punjabi numbers. The friend, who is still in sense is assigned the responsibility of ordering food from the nearest restaurant. Poor chap faces an uphill task of checking with each one about their food preference. The crazy friends make him go crazy and he questions himself why he is stuck with this job forever.

A couple of concerned spouses keep a tight eye on their husbands who have the habit of overshooting their quota. But the friends are quite skillful in avoiding the CCTV camera. They quickly gulp down a large shot before surrendering to dinner.

Crazy friends driving away to glory

There are times when friends get a chance to venture out without their spouses. As the weekend outing has been approved by high command, the friends lose no time to make a last-minute plan. The destination is decided based on the availability of a resort. It can be Jim Corbett or Shimla or Mussoorie. Duties are assigned to each friend. While one has to book the hotel, the other has to get the car. The most crucial duty goes to the most dependable friend. He has to carry a sufficient quota of booze. He is briefed by the rest about the choices. Beer for the afternoon and Scotch for the evening.

The D-day comes and the gang of 4 friends leaves for the destination. The entire dialect in the car is in hindi expletives similar to the ones you have heard in Mirzapur or Sacred Games on OTT. One of the hungry souls wants to stop for breakfast at a joint known for parathas. After a loo break, the gang resumes the journey. The target is to reach the hotel before sunset so that there is no delay in the evening sitting.

The afternoon journey is quite enjoyable. The music is on and the beer bottles keep getting emptied. The friend who has organized the liquor is requesting the gang to go slow because at the current burnout rate the beer will not last for a couple of days. The gang is least bothered. The place they are going has enough options to buy an emergency quota.

The gang reaches the destination

Finally, the gang arrives at the destination. None of the members are interested in stepping out for a view around the resort. A time is given to reassemble after getting refreshed. It’s evening and each member makes a call to the headquarters informing them they have reached safely. A couple of spouses from the Alfred Hitchcock pedigree want to make a video call so that they can witness all the friends.

One of the friends gets a call after some time from the spouse and he steps out of the room. Instructions are given to go slow on drinks as the spouse is not very fond of a couple of his friends whom she classifies as bevda  (drunkard). The friend listens but since he suffers from a short-term memory loss he forgets the instructions within a few seconds and joins the party of crazy friends forever.
