The Dengue Mosquito calls for Vocal for Local to fight Coronavirus

The dengue mosquito community is thrilled. After lying low for so long and losing the battle to the virus from Wuhan, they are back in action. Dengue mosquito has been able to strike the human world multiple times. The humans who currently are only bothered about the coronavirus have suddenly started getting infected with dengue.

The dengue warriors who had led this war against humans and brought the mosquitoes back in prominence were honoured at a public gathering. Awards were given for the most lethal bite, the most fatal bite, the platelet killer, and so on. But before awarding the winners the leader of the mosquito community decides to give a small speech. 

The leader recognises the efforts of the dengue mosquitoes in reviving the spirit of the mosquito community. He mentions that the entire mosquito population will have to work jointly for their survival. The Malaria and the Chikungunya mosquitoes also need to come forward and attack humans.

Mosquitoes are traditionally a feared community in India. They are responsible for spreading some of the killer diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya. However, since the entry of coronavirus into human being’s life, people have stopped worrying about mosquitoes.

The PM of India has recently announced the “Made in India”  drive to make the country self-sufficient. The “Vocal for Local”  is an attempt by the government to teach China a lesson for its border aggression. It will not only make the country self-sufficient but also reduce our dependence on Chinese imports.

One of the dengue mosquitoes who had gathered to listen to his leader’s speech questions him. He wanted to know  that if the country was boycotting Chinese products then how come humans have imported this disease from Wuhan. The Wuhan virus has created havoc amongst the mosquito community making many jobless. The migrant mosquitoes were seen going back to villages in absence of food in cities. Because of lockdown, humans were working from home, and mosquitoes who used to visit the workplaces became jobless.

The leader informs the mosquito community that they should not be bickering over minor issues. Instead, the dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and zika mosquito should join hands. Together they can attack humans and create a terror that is far more lethal than the Wuhan virus.

The mosquitoes were a bit skeptical. Spreading dengue or malaria required manual labour as the mosquitoes have to bite each person individually. On the other hand, China had used artificial intelligence to create a virus that spreads through the air. Every infected human who coughs or sneezes could infect all those who are in close contact with him.

The mosquitoes decide to go “Vocal for Local”

The mosquitoes decide that the only way to counter the coronavirus was to increase their population. This meant more breeding grounds in the cities so that more mosquitoes can bite human beings and spread the terror. But to build more breeding grounds the mosquitoes needed money.

The Mosquitoes approach the Finance Ministry

The dengue mosquito leader and his fellow leaders from malaria and chikungunya approach the finance ministry. They wanted the ministry to release funds under the “Vocal for Local” scheme. The officials inform that it’s the banks that will release the funds and not them.

However, the leaders insist that they would like to meet the FM  and request a grant. The officials tell them that it won’t be possible as the minister is busy answering questions raised by Mahua Moitra, the fiery leader from TMC, West Bengal. Mosquitoes request an appointment with the FM for the coming week. However, the ministry officials refuse saying the FM would be busy announcing a new scheme to spur the economy.

The FM announces a new scheme

The FM launches a new scheme for people working in government and private sector to boost demand. The service class people can claim their Leave travel allowance without taking any vacation. They just need to buy goods (TV, refrigerator, or any other durable) that attract a minimum of 12% GST at three times the value of their LTC allowance. The mosquitoes find the scheme very amusing. They knew the plight of human beings most of whom were jobless right now. Why will people spend Rs 300 to claim Rs 100 as LTA?

The dengue mosquito leader reacts saying this is the dumbest scheme he has ever come across. He asks his fellow leaders to drop the idea of meeting the FM and instead approach the banks for financial assistance. The Indian banks are known for their “Suck the poor and Lick the rich” attitude. In real life, they play the role of “Rich Man’s Robin Hood”. They have denied loans to the deserving while helping frauds like Nirav Modi, Vijaya Mallya, and Mehul Choksi.

The Bank visit

The bank officials are surprised to see a fleet of mosquitoes in their office. On learning that the mosquitoes want a loan for the “Vocal for Local” scheme, the GM asks for their CIBIL rating as well as a detailed project report. The mosquitoes are confused! They had heard about Platelet rating but what is CIBIL rating.

The Indian banks are notorious for refusing loans to deserving entrepreneurs. How can they extend it to the mosquito community? The PM may have promoted “Vocal for Local” but who will guarantee the loans.

The bank officials ask mosquitoes if they have political backing.  The mosquitoes realise that getting a loan for entrepreneurs is not that easy.

The “Vocal for Local” scheme seems to have hit a block

The realisation dawns on mosquitoes that they can never beat the coronavirus that has infected the entire world. Also, humans are not friendly towards their community and trying to kill them. The Delhi CM has launched an anti-dengue campaign called “10 Hafte, 10 Baje, 10 minute”. He checks for dengue mosquito in all the places where water is stored. As a result the mosquitoes are not able to breed.  Thank God not everybody follows him otherwise the entire mosquito community would have got wiped out.

While returning from the Delhi CM’s house, the dengue mosquito leader gets breathless. His colleagues immediately get him admitted to a Covid hospital in Delhi thinking that he has been attacked by the coronavirus. The doctors examine the dengue mosquito leader and start smiling. They tell his colleagues that their boss got breathless not because of Covid but because of the farm fires that have polluted the Delhi air.
